School Supplies

May 31, 2009

Next year’s school supply list came home last week.  I’ll keep my eyes open for the best deals that I can pass along to you.  I keep a bin in the basement for cheap school supplies that I find.  For instance, I got those expensive plastic folders on clearance last September for 19 cents each.  And I found Fiskers kid’s scissors for 49 cents a few weeks back.  Here’s what I see this week that was on my list…

Pump bottles of hand sanitizer… 69 cents at Jewel thru at least Wednesday

Tubs of Huggies wipes (I need 6!)… $2.50 at CVS this week (use $1 off Huggies Bath and Body coupon=$1.50/tub)

Stracks Deals

May 29, 2009

This one’s for you Kristi…

Things to remember about Stracks are that you get 5 cents off your order for each bag you bring of your own.  They also have a 200% meat and produce guarantee.  If it’s bad, they give you your money back AND replace it.

Southern Peaches… 99 cents/lb

Marcal Small Steps 8-pack paper towel or 12 Dbl roll TP… $5, limit 4 per transaction ($1 coupon from recent inserts=$4.  My target price for a roll of paper towels is 50 cents, so this is a stocking up opportunity if you have the coupons)

Oscar Meyer Bologna… 99 cents for 8 oz pack ($1/2 coupon from if you have it=49 cents per pack)

Dutch Farms American Singles 12 oz or 8 oz Shredded Cheddar or Mozzarella or bars… $1 (cheese freezes great!)

Various Kellogg’s Cereal… $1.50 (there are several Kellogg’s coupons out there from previous printing and newspapers… my target price for cereal is under $1 per box)

Tide 75-100 oz… $9.99 (several coupons from P&G inserts makes this a decent price)

Kraft Mac & Cheese… 69 cents (I’ve seen better prices, but if you’re out, this is pretty good)

Hunts Snack Packs… $1 each ($1/3 coupon from May ALL YOU magazine=67 cents each)

International Delight Flavored Creamers 16 oz… $1.50 ($1 off coupon here=50 cents!)

Red or Yellow Peppers… $1.99/lb

Healthy Ones 8 oz lunchmeat tubs… $2.50 ($1 coupon from 5/17 Parade=$1.50)

Hormel Pepperoni… $3 (I don’t know if this is a great price, but I need it, and I make my grocery list from here 🙂

Walt’s Deals

May 28, 2009

I just got my Walt’s ad today.  Sorry for the delay.  I’m thinking I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get a NWI Times subscription for passing along the ad deals to you.  Nothing fantastic jumps out at me this week, but there are some really good deals on produce.

It all evens out…

May 28, 2009

I won’t be posting my Meijer photo this week, because I bought a TON of stuff and had three kids with me (and still with me when I got home and had to get it put away!)  I found some decent deals, not all spectacular, and I stocked up on some things we really like, like some Go-gurts and fruit that were on sale, but not super cheap.  The funny thing is, this month, even though I was going to try to cut the grocery budget for a month just for fun, I ended up $24 OVER budget.  That’s the first time I’ve gone over since the double turkey incident in November.  Why is it funny you ask?  Because I wasn’t watching the numbers very closely on today’s shopping trip, and yet I came out $24 over, which is EXACTLY how much I was UNDER last month.  Weird.

Jewel Deals (5-28 thru 6-3)

May 28, 2009

Here’s what stands out to me at Jewel this week.  Remember, Jewel runs their sales from Thursday thru Wednesday.

Hormel Natural Choice Lunchmeat… BOGO (2 for $4.79)  This is about $4.80/lb for this lunchmeat, which has no nitrates.  Buy and freeze!

Ronzoni Healthy Harvest & Smart Taste? Pasta… $1.25 ($1 off Smart Taste coupon from 4/5 newspaper insert IF Smart Taste is included.  It’s pictured in the ad, but not written in.  Weird.  If it is, it would be 25 cents!)

Biz Laundry Booster… $4.99 for 25 oz liquid or 50 oz powder (Up to $2.50 off coupon here =$2.49!)

Spray N Wash Brite N White… $3.99 ($1.50 coupon in recent insert)

Hershey’s Ice Cream Toppings… $1.67 ($1/2 coupon in recent insert=$1.17 each!)

Kellogg’s/Keebler Mega Sale… $1.88 wyb 8 of various cereals, poptarts, fruit snacks, crackers, cookies, and breakfast bars.  (Various coupons… look for the Kellogg’s/Keebler items that are $2.50… those are the ones that are $1.88 when you buy 8)

Pediped Sale

May 28, 2009

I am a huge sucker for Pediped shoes on little ones.  They are so stinkin’ cute.  AND they are awesome for their little feet.  Pedipeds can be pricey, but they are currently running a great sale.  Plus, 50% of the profits from the sale shoes go to the Make-a-wish foundation right now!  Click here to see the sale shoes.

Also, I have found that Pedipeds in the long run are no more expensive than most Target-ish type shoes!  Why?  Because after I am done with them, I sell them on ebay.  They have a huge resale value.  So if you buy them 50% off, you may even get back your entire purchase price!  I’ve sold Pedipeds on ebay for $15-20 a pair.
